First Post

Well hello

A big part of me never ever wanted a blog but after watching Jaz have so much fun and reap the rewards of expressing herself to her blogging friends I thought maybe this is something I can seek some joy in?

Time will tell!

Its a lovely Sunday morning here in Stanmore Bay Auckland, far far away from the earthquakes that have struck our beloved home city Christchurch and all our friends and family that live there. I believe that things happen for a reason. I know a lot of people close to us weren't convinced that relocating to Auckland with a young family was such a good idea. But in hindsight its been one of the best decisions ever made.
We live in a beautiful location with lots of opportunities for our children, they have adapted very well. My wife last year was diagnosed with a brain tumour. You can imagine it rocked our world. Should we stay or should we relocate back to friends and family in Christchurch?

We decided to stay and have experienced the best in medical care, new friends, lots of love and support from strangers that are fast becoming friends and a stress and earthquake free environment.

Often I wish that I was down there, taking part and sharing the load with all of those people in canterbury. But in reality we have enough on our plate supporting Jaz through her biggest challenge yet.

I know that one day we will once again live on South Island soil, Im just not sure when.

The weekend so far has brought alot of rain but pleanty of fun. Yesterday I went for a run. About 4kms, exercised (weights etc) for 30 odd minutes and then took the girls swimming. Followed by Mcdonalds and alot of Rugby on TV.

The Crusaders managed a tough win over the Hurricanes to take the top spot in the NZ Super rugby competition but the Warriors wilted under the Townsville heat against the Cowboys. I think if I had to pick 1 winner from the 2 games the right team won!!

My goal today is to rest. I have exercised every day this week and my body feels pretty tired so for me there will be plenty of R&R along with the grocery shopping and maybe a quick car wash.

So that's about it. my first post of what I hope will be many.

Take care

Mark

  4. Mark, I started blogging as a way of keeping my friends up to date with what I was doing when I was on the opposite side of the world. I have met (both in Blogland and, through Blogland, in reality) some amazing people and made some wonderful friends. I would not be exaggerating if I said that it had been if not exactly life-changing then certainly life-enhancing.

I wish you very happy blogging. If the work you did in keeping Jaz's blog going and informing her followers what was happening is anything to go by you'll be right.
